Castle: Boom, Indeed

Who else was holding their breath, waiting for last night’s episode?  castle boom

Who else knew Beckett had- just HAD -to be okay?

Who else is thought ‘yeah, if I’d just been almost blown up, I’d be laying on the couch doped up with pain killers, not beating on shelves to finda secret hidey-hole’?

Don’t tell me I was alone in all that.

So the show.  It rocked.  Totally rocked, right?!  From the naked opening to the Beckett making Castle breakfast this time (and Martha walking in) to the end when Shaw so wonderfully summarizes the Castle/Beckett relationship.  The writing this season is just getting better with every episode, isn’t it.

Favorite Scene:  I can’t decide between the girl heart-to-heart between Shaw and Beckett when Beckett asks Shaw how she juggles it all.  Or between take-down when Castle shoots (did you get the Firefly reference there?)

Favorite Line:  Shaw to Beckett – “In the end, Dunn did face Nikki Heat. She is, after all, part you, part Castle.   *pause*  He cares about you, Kate.  You may not see it. You may not be ready to.  But he does.”

Extra creepy:  The mosaic of Beckett on the wall.

Random Question:  It just hit me last night… If Martha’s last name is Rogers, and they have no idea who Castle’s dad is… how’d he get the last name Castle?  Self-bestowed?

Side note:  I want a cast iron, claw-footed bathtub!

How about you? What was your favorite scene and/or line?  What’d you think about the ending?  Do you like how it all went down?

  1. Yeah, but there wasn’t a kiss. I thought they needed a kiss, so I felt kind of let down by the end. And she only stayed one night with him? Where did she stay after that? I liked when she was making b’fast — that would have been the perfect point for him to come out, and for there to have been “a moment” — but they just brought in the whole family, etc. I have to admit, while I was into the cliffie and the plot was great, I am disappointed in how they are handling the attraction/romance.

I know, Sam. I did have a brief pouty moment when they didn’t kiss- or even hug – when he hauled her out of the tub.

    2. Tawny says:

Oh – meant to say, YES! I totally wondered why she wasn’t still staying with Castle on night two. Once the case was closed, she wasn’t under orders like she had been?

  2. Andrea says:

I’m in agreement with Samantha, they needed a kiss. I loved last night’s episode. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. But I guess they really don’t want the romance to blossom too quickly because I’ve noticed that shows really lose something when the sexual tension gets released. It was a great episode. Almost as good as Chuck was earlier in the evening.

    1. Tawny says:

Andrea, a hug would have been enough for me, even. Something they could write off to the heat of the moment (hahaha) and relief that she was alive. But yeah, I get why the writers are holding out. But hey, I write Blaze. I’m a big believer in sex actually amping UP the sexual tension, so this delay is killing me LOL

      1. Exactly, Tawny — there could have been a hot, desperate “OMG I am so glad you’re alive” or “Wow, pancakes” kiss and then they could have backed off of it, tried to write it off or pretend it didn’t happen, and it would up the tension, not deflate it…

My favorite scene was Castle finding Kate still alive in the bathtub. (I kind of guessed last week that would be her only logical safe place.) As for the romance – maybe next season Kate will realize she’s not married to the job and she’ll be ready to take a chance. LOVE this show. Long may it run.

    1. Tawny says:

Monica, did you see that they just renewed Castle for season 3? WHOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

And yeah, I was figuring the tub would factor into saving her, too. I really liked the ‘advice’ and inspiration she seemed to be getting from Shaw. Yes, you can have more than just the job LOL.

  4. Monica Britt says:

Oh! Oh! Oh! I also love her being part of the family breakfast, too! Sweet!

  5. Jill says:

It was another good episode. I liked all the things you’ve mentioned so far. One of the funniest moments for me was the sight gag with Castle burning his mouth on the eggs when Beckett was talking on the phone with Dunn. LOL She looked so serious and then there he was in the background flailing around because he had burned himself.

Some of my favorite lines -

Castle: There’s nothing like being murdered by a serial killer to curb tourism

After Martha explains that she will be spending part of her time at Castle’s apartment and part of her time with her boyfriend -
Alexis: It’s sort of like dual citizenship
    Martha: Exactly!

After Castle shoots the gun out of Dunn’s hand -
Beckett: That was a hell of a shot Castle
Castle: I was aiming for his head!

    1. Tawny says:

LOL I loved those lines!! Especially that last one, since it gave me happy Firefly flashbacks.

Wasn’t that scene a perfect summary of these characters? Beckett so serious, Castle such a kid.

  6. Chelsea B. says:

I loved the part when Beckett handed Castle a gun and he was all “Do you want me to hold it for you while you tie your shoe?” LOL! Classic!
And when Beckett said, “You have the right to remain silent. So shut the hell up.”
It was a great episode! *So* relieved Beckett is OK!
Okay, one more favorite line: When Beckett is told to stay in the van. Castle: “Now you know how I feel.”

    1. Tawny says:

LOL Chelsea, I almost forgot about that line *g* He’s just so darned cute, and look how well she’s trained him at this point LOL. In the first season, you know he’d be all about the shootout! Now he doesn’t even expect to go along for the fun. Like you said -that line about ‘now you know how I feel’

  7. Paula R. says:

Hey Tawny, I was waiting with bated breath, just like you. I loved it, but I wanted the perp to get shot. I know, mean or scary, but it would be just what he deserved. I didn’t catch the Firefly ref because I never saw that show.

I liked the heart to heart, and I guessed that would hit the romantic in you. It certainly did in me. It always takes an outsider to see what is going on right in front of you. Kate’s reaction was great too. My fave scene was when Beckett was cooking for Castle this time. Loved the look on Martha’s face when she came in and saw Kate cooking. Priceless!!! The dialogue between all the characters were great. Loved the scene in the van when Kate implored Castle to explain what he would have done. I loved it!

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

    1. Tawny says:

Paula, I think you nailed it. This was a really romantic episode, wasn’t it? It was all about the emotional growth and realizations for the characters. As romance readers – we want to see a little more, a little faster. But while their lips might not have even come close (darnit) we did see huge leaps of emotional connection and trust.

      1. Paula R. says:

Tawny, I wouldn’t have minded a little kiss though…LOL!!! I love the whole idea of Castle being strong in Beckett’s weakest moment, and how he quickly reverts to the playful and loveable guy once he was confident she was good to go. It is at these moments, I feel, when the two were the most connected emotionally.

        Peace and love,
        Paula R.

    2. Jill says:

The interaction between Beckett and Martha was great. Beckett looked embarrassed like she had been caught red handed. I love that she told Martha that the FBI had sent her there and then Martha just responded, “I don’t judge.” LOL

  8. Nicole S says:

I really enjoyed the episode, well both of them. They’re getting really good.

    1. Tawny says:

They are getting good, huh, Nicole!?
