Quick Six with Lynn Raye Harris

Please welcome Lynn Raye Harris to the Quick Six! Lynn is a USA Today bestselling author and is offering a copy of her latest book, The Prince’s Royal Concubine to one lucky commenter!

Two glittering royal houses…
Prince Cristiano di Savaré hunts his prey by ruthless means. Tonight’s pickings…Antonella Romanelli, crown princess of a rival country and part of a dynasty he has every reason to despise…

…one majestic seduction
Antonella is rocked by Cristiano’s unexpected magnetism. But there’s ice in his wolfish smile… She’s far from the promiscuous, spoiled socialite he believes her to be, but Cristiano is here to persuade her into compliance. If bedding her is what it takes, then it will make his mission all the more pleasurable…

Plotter or Pantzer?
Is it permissible to snicker? Because I always feel so naughty answering this question. I am an unrepentant pantzer. If I try to build a roadmap to the story before I start, I panic. I usually start with two characters (who often form as I go) and a situation. Somehow, I get a whole book out of it. With help from a lot of chocolate, a bit of alcohol, and a brilliant editor. 

Alpha, beta or gamma?

I write for Harlequin Presents. Definitely alpha. Those billionaire tycoons/sheikhs/playboys are hardcore alphamales all the way. But when that one special heroine brings him to his knees, I am putty! There’s nothing like an alpha in love.

Zebra or Leopard print?
Um, both? I have a zebra print dress and a pair of awesome leopard peep toe platform heels. But these are not, under any circumstances, to be worn together. ;)

Sunset or Sunrise?
I lived in Hawaii for 3 years. Saw plenty of sunsets over the ocean, but never did see a sunrise. As much as I might like to see a sunrise, I hate getting out of bed that early. And if I do make it, I’m too bleary eyed to go find the sun.

Dogs or Cats?
I like dogs, but I’m a cat person. Cats don’t need to go for walks. You don’t have to race home by a certain time to make sure a cat doesn’t pee on your carpet. On the other hand, cats have some seriously annoying habits. Like sitting on your head at 3 AM just because they can.

Email or letters?
I remember the days of waiting impatiently for a letter to arrive. I remember studying the writing on the envelope, ripping it open, and savoring the words written there. I saved all my letters and reread them from time to time. I kind of miss that special feeling you got from receiving a letter, or the care that went into writing one. But I’m an email girl all the way. It’s fast and there’s no waiting. I think we miss a little bit by not having handwritten communication, but do I want to go back to it? No. I like asking questions and having answers the same day, not three weeks from now.

And now my question for you: I write glamorous, sexy romance set in exotic locations around the globe – if you could read a book set anywhere in the world, where would it be?

USA Today bestselling author Lynn Raye Harris read her first Harlequin Mills & Boon romance when her grandmother carted home a box from a yard sale. She didn’t know she wanted to be a writer then, but she definitely knew she wanted to marry a sheikh or a prince and live the glamorous life she read about in the pages. Instead, she married a military man and moved around the world. She’s been inside the Kremlin, hiked up a Korean mountain, floated on a gondola in Venice and stood inside volcanoes at opposite ends of the world.

These days Lynn lives in Alabama with her handsome husband and two crazy cats. When she’s not writing, she loves to read, shop for antiques, cook gourmet meals and try new wines. She is also an avowed shoeaholic and thinks there’s nothing better than a new pair of high heels.  Lynn’s latest release, THE PRINCE’S ROYAL CONCUBINE, was awarded 4 1/2 stars and a Top Pick recommendation by RT Book Reviews magazine.  It’s available in stores now.  For an excerpt, as well as a peek behind the scenes, visit www.LynnRayeHarris.com.

  1. Leni says:

I’d like to read a book set in France, Italy, or Japan. I’m not sure of where in each country, but these are places I enjoyed studying about.

    1. Hi, Leni! Those are great places! I’ve read some books set in France and Italy, but never Japan. That would be awesome, you’re right!

  2. Hey Lynn, I’m so happy with all the success you’re having. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. :) As for your question of where I’d like a book set… Pretty much anywhere other than where I live. I’ve never been much of a world traveler, so I enjoying traveling vicariously through the novels I read.

    1. Thanks, Becky! LOL about wanting to read books set anywhere other than where you live. I have used the South in mine, because it’s such a quirky place. ;)

  3. Jill says:

I would love to see a book set in Bali. The pictures I see from there are always so gorgeous. I love the iconic pictures of the huts built over the deep blue water. The lush tropical setting seems so romantic to me.

    1. Hi, Jill! Oh yes, Bali would be great! I could probably do that in one of my books. :) Though I lived in Hawaii, I keep wanting to go back and do ‘research’. Ha!

There is a bit of a tropical setting in THE PRINCE’S ROYAL CONCUBINE, but it’s a Caribbean island instead of an exotic South Pacific one. :)

      1. Jill says:

I don’t blame you there. I’d want to do research in Hawaii as well! That’s cool that your book is set in the Caribbean. I’ve been to the Bahamas a couple of times and enjoyed the experience. You can never go wrong with an island setting.

  4. Kathy says:

Hey Lynn! Waving at you. ;)

How about Brussels, Monaco, Morocco, Tanzania, Portugal, The Alps, Norway, and Egypt. Brussels is beautiful old country, by the way. :)

    1. All great suggestions, Kathy! Thanks!

  5. MarilynS says:

  6. Nicole S says:

I’m a cat person myself. Right now I have five kittens to keep me busy, but in a week or two 2 or 3 will go to new homes.

I like reading books set in Ireland and Italy. Ireland always seems magical and Italy is so romantic.

    1. Wow, 5 kittens! But I bet they are soo precious. Nothing like a kitten to make you smile. :)

I’ve never been to Ireland (unless you count the Shannon airport), but I have been to Italy – both very beautiful places! Thanks for stopping by, Nicole. :)

  7. Chelsea B. says:

I would have to say my favorite setting– Scotland! *sighs with dreamy look in eyes* Is there anything better then those accents? (chocolate doesn’t count….) ;-)

    1. Hi, Chelsea! Oh yes, Scotland. I would love to go there someday! One of my friends is married to a Scot. His accent is very light though. Guess he’s lived in the US too long, LOL.

  8. CrystalGB says:

I like books set in Australia, England, Scotland and Greece.
