Quick Six with C.C. Coburn
Please welcome C.C. Coburn to the Quick Six!!Her latest Harlequin American is out this month and oooh, it looks awesome!! And that cover!! There’s something so sexy about a gorgeous man and a baby, isn’t there? Check this out:
First Comes Baby!
Plotter or Pantzer?
I’m a Pantser through and through. If I had to plot a book I’d shoot myself before I got past the first chapter. Who wants to know the ending before you write it? I sure don’t!

Historical or Contemporary?
I enjoy reading certain Historicals, but I write Contemporary. That said, I’m working on a Jane Austen adaptation, so not sure what the proper answer is. I do know I’m enjoying it and really looking forward to researching it more!
Alpha, beta or gamma?
I meet way too many Alphas in my real life, there’s no way I’d put them on a page! I prefer Betas, they gain command by being respected, rather than belting everyone else over the head with their wealth and impatience.

Alphas die young of heart attacks anyway, so who’d want to marry one?
What’s a gamma? Someone who’s been hit by gamma rays and turned into the Invisible Hulk?
Scary movies or romantic comedies?
This is a no-brainer, since I’m the biggest scaredicat around. I still have nightmares about The Exorcist. Then again, I still have nightmares about The Bridges of Madison County too! (((shudder)))
I love writing, reading and watching rom com. What’s not to love about a good laugh? And a happy ending…

City or country?
Another no-brainer since I set my books in small town America.
Cities are fine in small doses, but there are just too many people, too much pollution, too much rush. Country life grounds me. There is no substitute for boundless fresh air, clear blue skies and freedom to move.
Back rub, foot rub, or neck massage?
You mean I have to choose???! I love being pampered. Recently, when my husband went heli-skiing in Canada, I got lonely at home so booked myself into a gorgeous spa hotel. The most strenuous thing I did all day was decide which delicious treatments to indulge in that day. Also discovered I didn’t need to take any clothes as I could schlepp around the hotel all day in my luxurious robe – I don’t think they’d have even batted an eye had I turned up in the restaurant in it!

Even managed to write half a book during that week of indulgence, so I’m hoping to go back again sometime soon to finish the other half!
My question to readers: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
C.C. Coburn wrote her first book when her doctor advised her to put her feet up for six weeks after breaking her toe. Six weeks later, she had a 100,000 word manuscript, a new baby and a thirst to write more. A keen traveller, she spends 5 months a year living in the Colorado Rockies, taking inspiration from her surroundings. Married to the first man who asked her, she lives the other 7 months of the year on Australia’s sun-drenched Gold Coast with her husband, three children and a very much adored Labrador.
Her multi-award winning debut novel, “Colorado Christmas” from Harlequin American Romance is set in a small, but quirky Rocky mountains township. It features an uptight lady judge, a naughty pig, a lovesick dog, a kid who wants a dad, an Aztec red Cadillac series 62 complete with tail fins of extra-ordinary proportions, Christmas trees, a lot of snow and a hero to die for. Her second novel, features hunky Sheriff Matt O’Malley, brother of Will from her debut novel. Matt is forced to choose between love and duty when he protects a fugitive damsel-in-distress.

If I won lots of money and could live anywhere in the world without financial worries, I would still live right where I am. I enjoy being with my friends and family and would miss them tremendously if I lived elsewhere.
Under those circumstances, though, I would probably travel a great deal, again to visit far-away family and friends. If I could afford to take them with me, I would consider seeing various historical landmarks, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, the canals of Venice, Buckingham Palace, and even the White House. I’ve visited various places in Canada all my life and some in the U.S., so I would consider spreading my wings a bit if money wasn’t an issue.
Laney, I love it that you’re happy with where you live, but I agree that if money were o object I’d travel a LOT!
Hi Cathrine!
I would live right where I am–Colorado. I would rather be here, in my house than anywhere else on the planet.
Have a great day blogging,
Cher
Hi Cher! I can’t wait to get back to Colorado and totally understand you loving it there. I’ll be back there next week myself. Such a beautiful part of the world!
“Catherine” Sorry about that. My fingers were moving way too fast.
Cher
CC, your posts always make me smile
To answer your question…without hesitation…New York City. I love the energy, the diversity, and yet so many of the city’s ecclectic neighborhoods still have a small-town feel.
PS: readers are going to love The Sheriff and the Baby!
Hiya Lee! Glad I can make you smile. Wow, The Big Apple eh? So I’ll be seeing you at the conference there next year?
That cover looks as good as Matt sounds! I’m with Laney – East, West home’s best, although it would be lovely to visit stunning places like Yosemite or Uluru. Don’t think I’m brave enough for heli-skiing though!
Vermont. I’d still be able to experience the changing seasons and I think it’s a tax-free state.
Leni, I loved Vermont when I was there, so picturepostcard American New England! Loved the cute town with the white gov (local?) building and the sprawling lawns in front. So much better if it’s tax free too! (I wonder why?)
Where would I live? Exactly where I am – at the southern most point of The Great Barrier Reef – easily the most beautiful spot in the world. But the best thing about being a writer – it can take you anywhere you want to go. Love the Sheriff BTW CC & looking forward to Colorado Cowboy in January
Great point, Helen, being authors we can take ourselves and our readers anywhere in the world. And I do agree that your part of the world is very special – lucky you! thanks for the lovely comments on CO Xmas and my Sheriff!
Hi CC, I read your first book Colorado Christmas–warm, funny with a cast of endearing characters. I can’t wait to read The Sheriff and the Baby.
I’m happy where I live and moving somewhere else would involve shifting dog, cats, horses, miniature bulls and chickens so maybe not…
But every time I go to San Francisco I catch the ferry to Sausalito and imagine I would like to live there…
Kandy I agree that San francisco is special and I really loved the get away from it all feeling of Sausalito. Such pretty coastline around there. Thanks for saying such lovely things about Colorado Christmas. Louella returns in The Sheriff btw!
Hi CC, I love where I live on the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland on Australia’s east coast. Great climate, fun city.
Loved Colorado Christmas, The Sheriff and the Baby. Can’t wait for Colorado Cowboy.
Hi Helen, The Gold Coast is pretty special – although a bit chilly today! Thanks for saying such lovely things about my books. I hope you continue to enjoy them.
City with country breaks. Have learned to stay away from Kandy’s bulls, especially to one that is in love with me.
Cathleen, I can imagine one of Kandy’s bulls falling for you, you’re such a hottie!
See you in Orlando! (please leave the bull at home).
I would wanna live in Scotland for a while. Nice castle and gorgeous surroundings & yeah I do hope to meet me a nice Scottish guy while I’m there.A Gerald Butler look-a-like would be great.
Kirsten I LOVE Scotland and I’m in fact married to my very own Scot complete with kilt! They are rather yummy! It truly is a beautiful part of the wrodl (and not very crowded either) Just read today that only 9% of the UK population lives in Scotland. All that lovely wild, unploiled countryside (and men!) And i think Gerard is improving with age.
I loved Laney’s answer the best. Nice to know you love your part of the world so much you’d live there even if you were mega rich! Now that’s contentment.
Laney, if you can contact me via my webiste, I’ll pop a copy of The Sheriff and the Baby into the post for you.
Thanks everyone for contributing!
hugs,
CC
YES! I’m stoked right now. Sorry for the delay in reading this; it’s been a busy Father’s Day, but I made sure to check before hitting the sack!
I’ve just sent my email to you, CC. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’m so sorry I’m late chiming in, I’ve been busy at the bakery this weekend.
I love the country, the city has too much noise. I like the country sounds and fresh air.
If I could handle the hurricanes and heat I would love to live in North Carolina. But I’m happy wear I live now.
Don’t put me in the drawing I already have the book, can’t wait to read it.
