Castle – Rockin’ the Woowoo

Sorry this is posting so late -my internet has been giving me fits for the last two days!

I thought He’s Dead, She’s Dead was a fabulous episode in all ways but one.  The theme – believing in the woowoo vs not believing was great.  I, personally, lean heavily on the believing side, so it was fun to watch Castle argue for an open mind and to see all the little unexplained ‘coincidences’.

The repartee between the characters was so fabulous and the crime had me guessing until the last 10 minutes.  I was so sure it was someone else the whole time, and was glad to be wrong. I think one of the things I’m loving the most about Castle (right after the Castle/Becket relationship) is how well thought out the crimes are.  They always offer a few surprising twists, the entire hour is filled with new insights and fun.

I absolutely loved the Chet subplot.  It was so well done, and showed so much of the characters beliefs and values.  What fabulous insights. And Martha walked away with her scenes, hands down.  She nailed the perfect line between distraught and shallow – which sums her up so well.

The only thing that I was a little bummed with in this episode, and I figure is a preview of the season to come, is that the sexual tension and repartee between Castle and Becket is obviously been sidelined.  It’s gone.  And it’s 80% of why I watch the show.  I’m hoping as the season moves on, the tension will return and we’ll be back on the edge of our couches, yelling “Kiss Already!!” at our TV’s.  I’ll take frustration over no tension any day.

Favorite Scene: The Masons… I loved that entire exchange, from the skepticism to the aha moment to the “we’ll never talk about this again” line.  Just fabulous.  I thought it really summed up the episode.

Favorite Line:  At first I was sure it’d be Castle’s “I’m willing to admit there are people in this world who are more sensitive than I am” line.  But then Martha got me in the end with her : “Richard. Whatever mistakes I’ve made in my life, I’ve raised a good man.”  Deep sentimental sigh.

Favorite moment:   When, not knowing what the psychic’s daughter had told Beckett, Castle reveals his real name.   Big points for believing in the woowoo!

How about you?  What were your faves?

I’ll have to get back to you on this, Tawny. I was so looking forward to Castle but I was exhausted and fell asleep in the middle. Hulu awaits. Glad to know it’s worth catching up on.

The relationships between all the characters are what makes this show so good. There is also some wonderful writing.

Speaking of writers, they seem to be rationing out the sexual tension and feelings of love between Castle and Beckett. They gave us a nice “taste” in the first episode to hold us off for a while. Hopefully, we will get more soon.

It was a great episode!! I adore Martha!! She looked INCREDIBLE in this episode and I totally agree on that quote from her.
I continue to be in the “I Don’t Like Beckett” any more camp. She is constantly getting on my nerves, although I do enjoy her new haircut/color.
    More Esposito!!
