Quick Six with Allison Brennan

Please welcome New York Times bestselling author, Allison Brennan!!! Allison is one of those fabulous people who is not only amazingly talented, but incredibly nice!  Every time I see her name hit the New York Times list, I’m thrilled, because she always deserves every accolade she receives.  Not only is Allison’s 15th book, LOVE ME TO DEATH, on the shelves, but she has a new e-only novella, LOVE IS MURDER, that you have to check out!!

Plotter or Pantzer?
Organic Writer. I hate the word pantzer. I don’t plot, hate plotting, won’t plot, and everyone is just going to have to accept it. How the hell am I supposed to know what happens in the book before I write it?

Champagne or beer?
Can I say both? It depends on my mood. Hot summer days watching baseball? Beer. Parties with good friends at the house? Champagne. And of course, margaritas are good any time!

Clean or cluttered?
Cluttered. As I’ve told people who wrinkle their nose at my messy desk, “An empty desk is a sign of an empty mind.” If that is in fact true, my mind is overflowing!

Ocean or mountain?
Mountain. I love the ocean–to look at from the top of a mountain. I love the trees, the paths, the crisp, cold air, the sounds of leaves and small critters and birds and most of all, no distractions!

Bath or shower?
Bath! There is nothing better than a hot, scented bath with a good book and a glass of wine (or champagne!) Alone. Door locked. Kids sent to the movies with the husband. When I want peace and quiet, I want everyone gone.

Cop or Firemen?
I actually had to think about this, because I always thought I preferred firemen . . . except, I’ve never written a fireman hero, and I’ve written a whole lotta cop heros. So I’ll have to say cops. Like U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (JUSTIFIED). Or Detective John Stone (DETROIT 1-8-7). Or Peter Bishop (FRINGE). (Ok, he’s not a cop, but he works with them!)

Thanks to the gorgeous and gracious Tawny for having me today! I’m celebrating the release of LOVE ME TO DEATH, my 15th romantic thriller. I just found out that it hit #20 on the New York Times list, so maybe that’s why I picked champagne today :) So to celebrate, I’m giving away a $20 gift card to your favorite on-line bookstore (Amazon, BN or Borders!)

New York Times and USA Today bestseller Allison Brennan is the author of thirteen novels and three short stories. A former consultant in the California State Legislature, she lives in Northern California with her husband Dan and their five children.

Hi Tawny and Allison! I have to admit I haven’t read one of your books yet Allison, but now I really want too! I have been introduced to so many new and wonderful authors lately that me TBR list gets longer and longer every day. My hubby told me the other day that I’m gonna need a library just for myself if I continue buying books, lol!

    Have a wonderful day!!!

    1. Thanks Alina! I write pretty dark romantic suspense :) The good news is that I found out yesterday that LOVE ME TO DEATH has now enjoyed 4 weeks on the NYT list! . . . Thank you so much Tawny for having me here today. You’re just as nice as you say I am!

Congrats on a Top 20. I’m seeing your name all over the place.

    1. I hope that’s a good thing! LOL. I haven’t had a book out in 6 months, so I’m spending more time online than I normally do. Well . . . maybe not. Maybe I always spend too much time online!

  3. Laney4 says:

Hey there! I’m sorry to say I’ve never heard of you or your books before, Allison. Thank you, Tawny, for bringing this author to my/our attention! I look forward to checking out your books in the near future, Allison.
Five children? My hat is off to you, young lady! I wanted four and my husband wanted zero; we have two (now young adults) and everyone is fine with that. As long as they’re healthy, right (and even if they aren’t, they are still a blessing)?
Have a great day today, ladies, and thanks for sharing the love.

  5. infinitieh says:

Congrats on your new release! Your book covers do scream “thriller” and I like their layout. I also agree with you on the margaritas!

    1. I love what I write–I call them romantic thrillers because they’re really focused on the suspense/thrills but I always have a strong relationship in the story. For LMTD, I have two characters who launched my Lucy Kincaid series, so I’ll be spending a lot of time with Sean and Lucy.
