Quick Six with Jeanne Adams
I love being a writer. First, there are the fabulous stories and even more fabulous readers! Second, there are the
amazing writers I get to hang out with -and none more amazing than the wonderfulness that are the writers at the Romance Bandits. Even better, I can share that wonderfulness with all of you!!!
So bring in the fans and pass around the ice cold drinks, because RT Nominated Best Suspense of 2010 author, Jeanne Adams is visiting today and she’s HOT! Hot, as in, she’s a Cosmo Girl. Seriously!!! An excerpt of Jeanne’s story, Deadly Little Lies, is the Red HOT Read in this month’s Cosmopolitan Magazine – talk about HOT!!!
And, she’s here with a Dark and Deadly Little Prize – Cosmo, Deadly Little Lies, Dark Chocolate, and a Starbucks Coffee card for one lucky commenter!!
Light or Dark? Grins. Depends on the subject matter. Dark chocolate. Dark hair on men, dark skin. Light eyes.
Boxers or Briefs? Briefs alllll the way. Boxers are too…boxy.
Chest hair or bare? Ohhh, one of my favorite topics. Chest hair, totally. Love me some chest hair. Men without it look too boyish and youthful to me – they make me feel like I’m entering Cougar country and I’m so not that old. :>
Football or basketball? Fooooootballllll! I do like basketball, especially right about now with March Madness, but my heart lies with FOOOOTTBALLLLL! Not that I’m a fan or anything, but I do have Carolina Panthers jerseys, sweats, a watch, a gym bag. Yeah. Oh, and I got to kick a field goal at half-time of a Carolina game once. True story.
Whipped cream or chocolate syrup? Whipped cream. Chocolate syrup is so messy and sticky. Not that it isn’t GOOD, mind you, but whipped cream is so fluffy. (Did anyone see Despicable Me? “Its so fluffy, I could die!”)
Daytime or nighttime? I’m a total night owl. Its cooler, calmer, and more “my” time than the frenetic day.
Horizontal or vertical? What, I can’t have both? Grins. I like both. I’m good with both. Yep.
Jeanne’s question for readers: If you read an excerpt, like mine in Cosmo, and you like it, do you check out the author’s website, or just go buy the book?
Jeanne Adams lives in DC, is married to her hero, raising two junior heroes and two madly happy dogs, and manages to somehow stay sane by writing romantic suspense novels for Kensington Publishing. This month, a hot-little-sex-scene excerpt of Deadly Little Lies is the Red HOT Read in Cosmopolitan Magazine, so pick one up at your news stand today. Another sanity keeping anchor is Jeanne’s fabulous blog group, The Romance Bandits www.RomanceBandits.blogspot.com
Her latest book is Deadly Little Secrets, and it sequel, the forthcoming Deadly Little Lies (September, 2011)

If the excerpt intrigues me, I will usually buy the book and check out the author’s website.
Hi Crystal! That’s cool that you would “buy” from an author from an excerpt. Is an excerpt enough to give you a sense of their voice? Is that what does it?
After being intrigued by an excerpt, I’ll actually look up reviews for the book and then depending on the price, I might buy it. At the very least, the book gets put on my to-be-bought list.
Have to confess, Joder, that makes me quite happy! Hahaha! Thanks for popping in!
If the excerpt really grabs my attention, I tend to look to see what else the author has that may interest me… If I enjoy reading multiple books from them… I keep my eyes open for more books in the future!
Colleen, how cool! Please, go grab a Cosmo…grins. Seriously, thanks for that insight. I’m intrigued to see if my numbers go up from a simple two-page excerpt. It’s a hot one too…Grins.
WOOOOT!!! Jeanne’s here
YAY, I’m so excited. Can you tell us all how it feels to be RED hot *g* And maybe tell is a little about your awesome story and what it’s like to be featured in Cosmo. Talk about glam!
Sorry to be so late to gameday, Tawny! As to red hot….ssssssss! That’s me! Hahahah! (So NOT!) My writing is, maybe, but not me personally. Snork. I’m on another blog next week, and Kim from Hawaii asked, for the blog, what I would wear if I was to be a cover model! Arrrgh. An ivisibility cloak? Grins. As for my awesome story, I do love these characters. Ana is a “disgraced” CIA agent. A deal in Rome went bad and she feels responsible. The CIA agrees and has her on cold-case duty until her hearing. But Ana knows how to dig out info like no one else. She opens a cold-case dealing with art fraud and opens up a whole world of heat – both the sexy kind, with security expert Gates Bromley, and the painful kind involving bullets! Gates works for a billionaire industrialist who’s both mentor and friend. The art thefts were before his time, but he knows what to do when the case not only opens up, but brings down the heat on his boss, and on him. It’s pretty intense, and so are Ana and Gates, together.
As to what it’s like to be featured in Cosmo, when my editor called, I was like those Minions in Despicable Me….”Whaaaa…????” Seriously? Grins. Its been fun.
Jeanne, congrats on the Cosmo excerpt and the RT nomination! This is a fabulous book and deserves recognition.
If an excerpt intrigues me, I’ll usually check out the book, either via the author’s site or in a store. Then I’d likely buy it.
Hey Nancy! Thanks for popping in. Interesting that you too, would be intrigued enough to go to the author’s site. GOod thing I updated mine! Hahah!
Woot! Great to see you two gals together! Jeanne, congrats on another brilliant release and on the Cosmo hot read. You’re sssmokin’, Bandita!
Hey Christine! Thanks! Smmmmmokin’s good, as long as it’s not the house. Hahah. I’m really excited about the Cosmo thing, and I’m tickled to share it too, now that it’s out.
Love how we get to learn these little tidbits about your guests, Tawny.
Hmmm, Jeanne, I’d have made you as a boxer girl, not those baggy, no shape printed cotton ones, but the boxer-brief ones that come down on the thigh a bit. Best of both worlds!
Congrats on your Cosmo excerpt! I haven’t been out of the house in days, but I’ll grab my copy as soon as the boys let me out LOL.
As if the boys could REALLY keep you in, Jo. Grins. And yes, I DO like the boxer-brief hybrid where the nice clingy material comes down the nice, well-muscled legs…oooohhhhh, yeah. Just not the baggy, saggy boxers. Grins. And aren’t the tidbits fun, Jo? I loved the ones about Loucinda, last week.
Hey, Jeanne and Tawny together! That sounds like a recipe for utter mayhem! Jeanne, giggled at your interview – you always crack me up. Congratulations on the excerpt in Cosmo – that’s a major confirmation of stardom, my friend. And yes, I often buy books from what I’ve read about them elsewhere. Far too many books as you’d see if you beheld my TBR pile.
Hey! Anna’s in the house! Grins. And yes, Tawny and I together are a nice, tasty recipe for mayhem. Fun mayhem. Giggle-inducing mayhem. And *blush* on the stardom reference. I don’t know about that….
If I like the excerpt in Cosmo I usually go to either Amazon.com or the authors website to read a little bit more about the book. And if I’m still intrigued I buy it.
Congrats on your Cosmo excerpt!
Thanks Mariee! Are you a regular Cosmo reader? Have you bought other books from what you’ve read there? It’s such a thrill to have been chosen for the slot. Really cool. Thanks for stopping by!
I check out the website first then go get the book.
Leni, you’re obviously a decisive woman. Grins. Thanks for stopping in, and for your opinion. I’m so pleased to know that most folks will take another step and check out the website or the amazon/barnes & Noble/Borders info.
Hey Jeanne!
Great to see you here and can’t wait to pick up my issue of Cosmo to read your RED HOT excerpt.
Weren’t those minions in Despicable Me the cutest?!?!
AC
Hey AC! I love the minions. They rock. Grins.
Hey Tawny and Jeanne! Congrats on the Cosmo Red Hot Read! You so deserve it!
I do buy books based on exerpts. But then, I buy your books without exerpts, coz I know they are very good!
Thanks, Suz! Mwah!
I check out the author’s website and read about their books…. just like I did with your’s after learning about you here!
Awww, thanks Chelsea! That rocks. What did you think?
I will usually buy the book and check out the authors website.
Hey Quilt Lady! Thanks for popping in, and I hope you’ll check out my website…grins.
Great Quick six! I’m a Carolina Panthers fan, awesome that you got to kick field goal at half-time!
For me if I read an expert and I want to know what happens next that means it’s going to be a good book. But before I buy it I’d check it out to see what the back blurb says or at least find out what the book it about.
Hey, Nicole! Go Panthers! Grins. I’m like you in that if I like an excerpt, and like the author’s “voice” and want to know what’s next, I’ll check the book out in the bookstore, read the first ten pages, if that wasn’t in the excerpt. THEN decide. Grins. But I’m picky.
OOOHHHHHH, this book looks awesome! I’m with you Jeanne, boxers are just too boxy!
I always check out the authors website, as well as the reviews for the book I’m interested in and past books.
Great giveaway! Congrats on your success!
Thanks, Kacie V! Glad I updated my site….grins.
Hi Jeanne,
I would check out the author’s website first for more info about her other books and might end up buying more if I like the blurbs.
Good to know, Jane. Thanks for popping in!
Hi Jeanne and Tawny! If I read an excert in Cosmo or anywhere else, if I really like it then I am going to buying the book. I don’t pay attention to reviews or anything so I wouldn’t bother checking those out.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
ok, lol! It’s late and I’m so tired, so excuse my speeling mistake, lol! Excerpt*
Hehehehe. Alina D, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve mispelled that word in the last few days. Grins. Interesting that you don’t read reviews. I don’t either, I go on whether or not I like an excerpt. Grins. And I like to read a few pages of the book too, to be sure. I recently read one, however, that fooled me. The back cover blurb was superb. The first ten pages, brilliant. So I bought it. From about page 50 on, it just fell apart. Made me sad because the concept was so great. Sigh.
